Are they on the same domain?  Are they all portals of the same DNN installation?  Or are they separate installations?

hi  im also new in DNN. having almost the same question.

Lets say we want 5 Websites with DNN. All are running on the same Server. Is it possible to just have on DNN installation (files) but use 5 different DB (for the 5 websites). I saw its possible to have 5 connection strings but how can we redirect the users to the different DB's.?

Is this how its common on DNN or is it common to just have 5 seperate DNN installation on the same Server.
thx

Only one DNN Installation we have and Main Portal contains child portals.
1.  www.xyz.com
2.  www.xyz.com/child1
3.  www.xyz.com/child2

If i login to child1 it should allow access to main portal and child2... Also role should be keep in place for each portal.... Only Authentication needs to be one for all portals...
