When trying to change the skin of a page to use the vertical menu the site crashes.  It appears to have the necessary files in the folder portals/_default\Skins\DNN-Blue, but it won't display the page and gives a generic error of :

A critical error has occurred.
Value cannot be null. Parameter name: type

This error will even come up when just hitting the preview button for any vertical navigation skin.  Is there a way to reinstall the default skins?

I found this to be the case too in a default instance of DNN 4.4.0 so I compared it to DNN 4.3.7 and saw that some assemblies were missing in the bin directory of DNN 4.4.0 (I compared the install packages)

I just dropped the missing assemblies into the bin folder and it worked. Here's the applicable part of web.config that led me to the solution:

    <navigationControl defaultProvider="SolpartMenuNavigationProvider">
      <providers>
        <clear />
        <add name="SolpartMenuNavigationProvider" type="DotNetNuke.NavigationControl.SolpartMenuNavigationProvider, DotNetNuke.SolpartMenuNavigationProvider" providerPath="~\Providers\NavigationProviders\SolpartMenuNavigationProvider\" />
        <add name="DNNMenuNavigationProvider" type="DotNetNuke.NavigationControl.DNNMenuNavigationProvider, DotNetNuke.DNNMenuNavigationProvider" providerPath="~\Providers\NavigationProviders\DNNMenuNavigationProvider\" />
        <add name="DNNTreeNavigationProvider" type="DotNetNuke.NavigationControl.DNNTreeNavigationProvider, DotNetNuke.DNNTreeNavigationProvider" providerPath="~\Providers\NavigationProviders\DNNTreeNavigationProvider\" />
        <add name="DNNDropDownNavigationProvider" type="DotNetNuke.NavigationControl.DNNDropDownNavigationProvider, DotNetNuke.DNNDropDownNavigationProvider" providerPath="~\Providers\NavigationProviders\DNNDropDownNavigationProvider\" />
        <add name="ASP2MenuNavigationProvider" type="DotNetNuke.NavigationControl.ASP2MenuNavigationProvider, DotNetNuke.ASP2MenuNavigationProvider" providerPath="~\Providers\NavigationProviders\ASP2MenuNavigationProvider\" />
      </providers>
    </navigationControl>

Thanks for posting this- I was just looking now in reference to the problem  and you're miles ahead !! :-D

I just spoke with John Mitchell about it and he says it appears that Jon Henning's dll's are missing from the build.

Thanks for your help.  I just finished uploading the dll files from version 3 and it worked perfectly.
