I'm a fairly experienced DNN-er since v5.x. I'm a competent hands-on system administrator. I'm running my new DNN7 environment on a Windows 2008 R2 64 bit virtual server with quad core Xeon E5620 2.4GHz and 16GB RAM. SQL Server 2008 R2, IIS 7.5. Yes, the database server is on the same virtual server but plenty of available horsepower all around.
I have been trying to edit my first real customer website in Firefox 27 and noticed that after clicking Save on an edit there is an average 10 second wait time for the page to fully refresh and become accessible to my keyboard and mouse. During this time the browser hangs and locks up my entire desktop! Seriously, I can't even get to my PC desktop while the browser hangs, turns white, and shows (Not Responding). After a few more seconds it finally refreshes it fits and spurts. During the delay the message in the lower left is "Reading 64.120.12.152." That's the IP address of the new website.
This NEVER happens in my DNN 6 environment. All page update/edit Saves are fast and smooth as silk.
So I Googled around and found this guidance which I followed to the letter.

I even restarted the DNN7 application and rebooted the server. Unfortunately it hasn't made any difference with the editing problem. I tried Chrome and it's even worse in terms of delay and browser fits. I refuse to use IE.
Can anybody please provide guidance so that I can create and edit pages in DNN7 without going insane from wait times and browser/desktop lockups? I can't even multi-task while the browser is churning. This is a dysfunctional experience so far. Please help. My PC is an older souped up Thinkpad with 4GB RAM. It's a workhorse and doesn't have any problems with any other websites or application environments.I have 15MB reliable downstream bandwidth so that's not the problem either.
Thanks in advance for any advice and tips!
Fred
