Not receiving emails for items I subscribe for in Community Voice / Exchange

Even though I've hit the "subscribe" button on several items in Community Voice (and probably Exchange too), I am not receiving any notification emails. Is this what is supposed to be happening or do other users get their emails and it's something on my side? Double-checked filters and such, the only thing I'm receiving notifications for is the Community Member Announcements forum topic to which subscribed many years ago.
