Hi,

When i try to upload a .pdf file of the size of 3mb, i'll get this error:

Request timed out
Exception Details: System.Web.HttpException: Request timed out.

[HttpException (0x80004005): Request timed out.]

Is there a portal setting i can adapt? or is it serverside?
When i use ftp, and i upload the file manually to the portal/0/submap, i can't see the files in the filemanager... . What could i do to solve this?

Thanks

Thomas

If you upload it manually using ftp, you need to run a file sync for that folder in DNN file manager.

To upload it via DNN you need to alter the settings for <httpRuntime ...> in web.config, AFAIR Cathal worte about in his blog here on DotNetNuke.com.

Hello,
Open up your web.config file and find <!-- allow large file uploads --> section under this section you can optimize your portal for uploading large files, and prevent time outs:)

Here is an example:
    <!-- allow large file uploads -->
    <httpRuntime executionTimeout="400000" useFullyQualifiedRedirectUrl="true" maxRequestLength="262144" requestLengthDiskThreshold="262144" />
    <httpCookies httpOnlyCookies="true" requireSSL="false" domain="" />

I host large files in my portal and with this setting i got no timeout messages.

PS: Change the numbers to fit your needs:)

Dear Greenflash,

I did everything you've said, and i still get a time out. But i don't think that the size is the problem, but session timeout or something like that.

thx

Thomas
