Hi there - I'm a web designer and have just been handed a DNN project to Skin - I already have a CSS layout that I neet to integrate. My first stumbling block is creating a standard menu as an unordered list  - I'm seeing things about the SOLPART menu - do I need this do create a UL menu?

Thanks

Please understand, that DNN uses to create the menu structure by itself and utilizes a menu to display it and allow users to navigate. So if your users shall be able to create their own pages within the portal, you should implement one of the DNN menus. If you want to add a static list (that cannot be changed by the users) you can add links to your skin as you like.

Many thanks for the speedy response. I'm not sure if I understand. I do need a dynamic menu but I need it to be formated like a standard UL

like this...
  • Home
  • About us
  • Contact us
I can then use CSS to override the styles

No, the default DNN (Solpart) menu does not render a UL menu, it uses Javascript, XML and renders tables.

Perfect - that's the sort thing I'm looking for - although it would be way easier it DNN support these sort of features as standard. ULs have been common place for years. I'm a little worried as I think I may have a mountain ahead of me skinning this layout in css.
Thanks a million for the reply
Regards
Derek
