I'm building a documents database with the Repository Module and I'm relying on the Description field to provide all the info the users will need to search for.

My problem right now with the search function in the repository module is this: if the Description field of a record says "This is a nice test to try" and if I search for "This test" (without the quotes) I don't get any results.

Is there any way to get the Repository search function to work like a search engine works?

Sorry to bump up this post with my own reply, but I think this is of interest to many DNN hosters and developers.

There are 2 types of searches, the core search function and the repository search function. I'm not sure which one you are referring to, if it's the core search function ( which searches all modules ) then you should probably post your question in the 'Let's Chat about it' forum since there isn't a dedicated 'Search' forum anymore.

If you're talking about the Repository search box, then you are right, the search does not do a 'word-by-word' search, but takes whatever you enter into the search box and looks for that 'phrase'.  I added a new Gemini issue for you.

I was talking about the search box in the Repository module itself. Thank you for adding the issue to Gemini.

Does the Repository search return results from any fields other than Title and Author? I'm not getting results form the description field in any case.

Thanks,

jb
