OK,  maybe I am thick or something but I am having a heck of a time getting all of the pieces together.  I have my dnn main website setup (finally)  it responds to mydomain.com and www.mydomain.com.  I now want to create another portal other.mydomain.com and next.mydomain.com.  I sign in as host and create a parent portal adding the proper alias. The location is greyed out and still says Portal/[portal].

The only thing that happens is I get an error that the website can not be found.  If I go into my domain manager and add the subdomain and point it to the same directory as my dnn install (it is installed in the root), then I get an error saying that I can't browse the directory.  Looking at the directory structure under  Portals  there are folders labeled 0,  2  and  _default.  So I can assume the files were created.

What am I missing?

please notice, that other.mydomain.com and next.mydomain.com are parent portals, sub portals would look like www.mydomain.com/other

Yes, I looked back in my message and I did setup other.domain.com and next.domain.com as parent portals. They are both managed as "sub domains" or domain.com.  It still doesn't answer the question of how the sub domain need to be configured.  I looked in the directories created for the parent portals and several image files have been copied there but there is no other files copied there.  So if this is what is supposed to happen then the sub domain needs to point somewhere where is an asp(x), html etc type of file.  If there is supposed to be page files there what type of configuration / setup am I missing to create those files?
