Some people, including myself, are experiencing a significant problem with the 4.0.0 > 4.1.1 upgrade.  I'd wait for 4.4.2.

As far as I can see, there are a few users experiencing issues with compression & whitespace filter. We need to figure out the circumstances for this issue to correct it in a future version. Besides, there are numerous issues fixed and performance improvements that make it worthwile to upgrade to the latest version.

  1. No, I did not loose anything. As I wrote I upgraded my site but also did a clean install with all the modules I use. You can also do a clean install of DNN and all the modules you use and then copy data from one database to the other. {...}

Mariette, I am VERY VERY interested in this solution... HOW do you do this ???
Could you tell me if I am wrong:
1- of course, backup of everything.
2- clean new install of DNN 4.4.1
3- installation of all modules previously used
4- modifying the web.config to point to the old database. Is this correct ???
5- what about the files, located in Portals/... You also need to restore them, correct ?
6- What about skins and other things I may forget ?

Is this correct, or could you detail how you do this ???

I've tried various work rounds and I'm still stuck with with a partially disabled 4.4.1 portal.  I'm going to have to roll back to 4.4.0.  I do seem to be a rare case.

Folks may want to consider the precautions listed on this thread if they are going to upgrade to 4.4.1.

It seems like the upgrade issue is from 4.4.0 to 4.4.1 and not from 4.3.7 to 4.4.1.

I'll be upgrading some sites from 4.3.7 to 4.4.1 for dogfooding this week and report back.

Personally, I never upgrade to the first version of any release, I always wait for the X.X.1 version. While I'll upgrade for basic testing, there is nothing that will expose the issues like doing it on a live installation.
