We're running DNN 3.1.1 for a client (our only client on DNN) and we were informed today that the editing menus for editing the text/html menus do not populate in IE7. A throrough google dreg lead the only answer to be "IE7 breaks the admin portion of DNN3.x so that wysiwyg editing doesn't work properly."

Can anyone confirm or deny and is there any other solution than upgrading to version 4.x?

Thanks in advance.

My solution to the same problem in DNN3.2x, was to install the FCK Editor Provider.  It works in IE7 as well as other browsers.  It's an easy process to change editor providers, just copy & paste a couple files and a section in your web.config.  Piece-o-cake!

it is an issue of a 3rd party component, the default HTMLeditor FreeTextBox. Later versions of it work with no issue, but are not easy to integrate with previous versions of DNN. You can either upgrade to a current version of DNN or install another HTML editor, e.g. the recommended FCKEditor, that is freely available with DNN provider from the project's download page here on Dotnetnuke.com.
