Hi.

I'm pretty new to module development, but I'm trying to make a simple news module.
For every "news-article" I want to include a picture.
I have a couple of questions:

1. What is the best way to use images in a module?
My solution so far is to upload the image as a blob in the database. However, I'm not sure how to convert the byte stream back to a picture when I try to display it in the module.
I also thought maybe it's better to use the picture upload included in a couple of modules in DNN. Does this function have a documented API somewhere that I missed?
2. I also want to make the module available in two different languages (I.E. the news can be displayed in either English or Norwegian). Where can I get the key that shows me the current localization option (The language chosen by the current user).

Thanks!

Not to rain on your parade, but have you tried the Announcements module using templates.

Do you know the truth when you hear it?

Thanks for the tip! Do you know where I can find documentation on how to use those templates?

(PS. I know there are modules out there that can handle this already, but I'm doing it because I'm trying to learn how to make a module from scratch)

  1. Use the URLcontrol (found in the core framework) to upload the image to the file system. Storing it in the database is slow and costs database space.
  2. you will need code, that gets the language from the UI, have a look at the modules from Locopon for example, to see how ML modules are created.

Also, you might want to look at my MLAdvAnnouncements module. It supports images as well, and is completely multilanguage (http://www.apollo-software.nl/DotNetNuke/Modules/MLAdvAnnouncements/tabid/224/Default.aspx)
