I have been looking in my web.config file and have seen the setting for Host Header that will remove the Virtual Directory from the URL for the portal. I have tried entering the Directory name for the key but I just wind up not being able to get to the web site at all. What do I need to do to fix this?

Did I post this in the wrong place? I would like some help here since this is causing me a couple of problems that I am having to use some workarounds for.

Bull:

I'll try to help.  What is in your HostHeader line in your Web.config now?  What version of DNN are you running?  What O/S are you using, Windows Server or XP?

I run several (probably too many) different versions of DNN in both my desktop PCs as well as my server and I have never touched the HostHeader line in the Web.config.  However, I asked the question about the O/S you use because if you use a desktop version of IIS it will only support one true Web site.  In that case, if you want to avoid using the directory name you have to point the Default Web Site directly to the directory where DNN is.  This is no problem if you are not interested in running other apps in IIS locally.

On the server side is basically the same but with the added benefit of being able to have many true, separate Web sites, each using a totally different physical directory.

Now, remember that in each case you must adjust the Host Header setting for the site in IIS and you must also adjust the Alias for the site in DNN.

Hope this helps.

Carlos
