My ISP has instructions on their help pages to use 'localhost' as the server name in scripts.  I assume this applies to DotNetNuke, especially given they did not provide any other data source information when I signed up with them.  Does this seem normal and if so is the proper entry server=localhost or server=(localhost)? Something else altogether?  My install keeps failing even after they claim to have set the permissions I asked for ASPNET.

Thanks!
Mike

Localhost can also relate to "your" server's name.  If its a shared or Dedicated server then its got to be an alias beside "localhost".  The only time I use localhost is on my personal PC for testing IIS.  Find out the alias of your server.  It should be in your account.

 ie

Server=MyServerName or IP Address

As rugbymw mentioned it could be the name of your PC, you could also try using (local) and see if that works.

I am just about ready to give up on DotNetNuke.  I've been trying to two weeks to get this to install on my ISP.  Never works.  I've tried Server=localhost, Server=(local) and just about everything in between.  Deleted all the files umpteen times, gone through everything with a fine-tooth comb and still I get the "could not connect to the database" error followed byDotNetNuke Upgrade Error The Assembly Version ( [ASSEMBLYVERSION] ) does not match the Database Version ( [DATABASEVERSION] ) .

Fed up and discouraged...
