Hi
I have a website with the cataloox shop on it (so i may have to also talk to them I guess)  My problem is without me doing much the database keeps getting bigger which costs me an extra £5 a month which is really annoying and i don’t know what’s causing it to get bigger, I’ve turned off any click monitoring and cleared the cach but it still seems to be growing by itself. Has anyone has the same prob and does anyone know what I can do about it

You might need to dig into your tables to try and identify the root cause of the size increase.  How much is it growing?

Abbie:

Do you by any chance use any sort of Keepalive software to keep your DNN assemblies loaded in memory (to avoid the long delay of first time loading)??? If you do, and it is probably done very often, then your logs may be getting full of all these calls from the keepalive tool.

This has happened to me. It will also mess with your log reports, so I learned to delete all log entries for the keepalive tool before running the reports.

Hi

i don't have any keepalive software, not sure what 'DNN assemblies loaded in memory ' means is this in the host settings where it says 'Module Caching Method' it is set to memory? as opposed to 'disc' it does take a while to start up anyway, should I set this to disc.

It's now 101mbs this seems like an awful lot, it was under 50 to start with, is there any way to make it smaller, I'm very green at .net and sql so i don't want to be delving into the tables when I don't know what I'm doing

any sugestions welcome

do identify the tables, that take most of the space, those are usually SiteLog, EventLog or SchedulerLog. Check your settings in the scheduler and host settings for purging records.

Also do check the database, that the transaction log gets truncated after each backup (your hosting provider shall be able to assist you with this).
