I just copied the latest install onto a IIS server.. set up the virtual directory.. change the web.config to connect to the DB I had set up...

hit the site.. the install process ran without a hitch.. but when I go to the site.. I get a message from all the modules on the home page:
Error: Links is currently unavailable.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Value cannot be null. Parameter name: connectionString ---> System.ArgumentNullException: Value cannot be null. Parameter name: connectionString at Microsoft.ApplicationBlocks.Data.SqlHelper.ExecuteReader(String connectionString, String spName, Object[] parameterValues) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Links.SqlDataProvider.GetLinks(Int32 ModuleId) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Links.LinkController.GetLinks(Int32 ModuleId) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Links.Links.Page_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

I was able to log in as Host.. reset the password... and even create a new user for super users..

so what am I missing.. I'm sure it's simple.. and you'd think after setting up 3 of these in the last month or so. I'd have it down pat :P

There are actually two connection strings to set up in web.config. It apears that you correctly set up the one under < connectionStrings> but missed the one (or did not uncomment the proper one) under < appSettings>, Most modules still need the second or legacy connection string.

yeah.. after I wrote that.. I went back and was scanning through the web.config and realized I didn't set the second one for older modules :P

thanks for the reply though.. it's up and running now -- now to only get it ready for a demo by next week *sigh* LOL

I have the same problem after a new 4.4.1 install. I loaded the modules and now i get this same error message. I have checked and doulbe checked by config file for my two connection string entries and they are both there. Could there be another cause for this error.

Thanks
