I'm dynamically loading a DnnTree and adding it to a placeholder's controls collection.
When expanding a node (which normally causes a callback to PopulateOnDemand), I get a "404 - Control Not Found" error. Presumably because when dynamically added, the sub-node client IDs are different to the IDs expected by DnnTree?

Any ideas how to track this down and/or suggestions for fix?

A callback does not process the entire page's lifecycle.  It short-circuits at the init event.  Most likely your control is not present at this stage, thus the 404 error.  This forum entry discusses this issue and offers some solutions.
