I left Dnn a close to a year ago after years of joy participating in this great movment.  I will not go into all the details why I chose to use other frameworks as my primary toolbox, but I have had several "hot" headed posts on the ol forum and I guess a couple in here too regarding the information flow in Dnn.

While I have no problem understanding that the core team and their closest circle will need to get info first, the community at large need info also. I guess my last post was regarding the Roadmap, and I guess this is where I start today as well ;-))

Why so vage in your statements on the roadmap? Why not spill the gut on the 5.0 allready now? Give us something, a little bone so we [the community at large] know what way the project is heading?

I peeked in here today to see if I might be lucky regarding the roadmap, but it stays much the same as when I left.
That was really to bad, because I have a client that really could use dnn as a framework, but when the roadmap is not drawn I am not sure he will be onboard. For me personally that is really not a problem, my toolbox got enough tools to handle that part. Ok, I might need to use maybe a php based framework, but in the end my client pays me for the end result and functionality so that is what I give him. It is really no biggy for me if I use Dnn or not but I have many good memories from Dnn, and the community has been a great way of learing and an endless source of wisdom and inspiration.

And because of the great community it does actually make me think that if we information flow was better from the coreteam I sure would still be active here.

So what about it nokiko and the rest of you, have the latest version brought you new things to play with?
Hmm, i guess I have to download the latest just for personal playtime this weekend.

Remember all, Dnn needs its member as much as the members need Dnn. This is a two way street.
Enjoy your weekend ;-)

And the same oversensitivity by some members ;-)

Well, I for one do not worry too much on what will be included the framework for version 5, 6 or 7.  Since most of my clients need things done by yesterday and it is really no point telling them to wait for 6, 12 months down the track.  If what they require is not available now, implement it yourself or look for other framework options.

Slope, obviously you're still missing DNN after you have turned your back on it.  I can certainly understand why.

Welcome back!

Welcome back!

Sure I miss Dnn. Dnn has been the framework of choice for a long time, and really got me going as a programmer.
And I could not help myself from grinning while playing around with the latest version this weekend. ;-)

Well one thing is for sure, I will keep peeking in from time to time.
