Hi again guys,

Thanks for your comments but I am still stuck. I have checked the connection strings over and over again.

As far as the database I cannot alter the user rights myself. I have enoumerous times asked my web hostto make sure I have full rights/permissions. They say I should be able to install DNN 4.4.1 as they have not changed any permissions since my previous version I had installed (4.3.4)

Now to prove to myself that I haven´t been making any errors or gone mad I have twice tried within the last hour and succeded in installing versions 4.3.4 and 4.3.7 without any problems. It only takes me about 10 minutes to have those versions up and running.

However when I follow the exact same procedures trying to install 4.4.1 it fails. AAAAggggghh!

Unfortunately I am not a developer so I do not have a backup on my computer as I don´t know how to install it.

I did use the backuprestrore module for 4.3.4 but since I cannot even do a clean install of 4.4.1 there is no point even trying to do an upgrade.

I withhold my theory that there is something differernt with DNN 4.4.1 when it comes to installation requirements.

Can please some DNN developer answer my first question:

Does dnn 4.4.1 require increased read, write, modify, and execute rights for the database then previous versions i.e 4.3.4, 4.3.7   it certainly seems so!

How do I overcome this? What do I need to ask my web hotell host technicians to do exactly?

I quite gladly will give out my login and password to my site, ftp and database to anyone who thinks that I am doing some fault in the installation process. Prove to me that there is no difference in the installation requirements between 4.3.4 and 4.4.1 All I simply now want is a clean installation of 4.4.1

Any offers ;-)

A tired, broken and frustrared DNN user....

Rolf

Check to make sure that no files are set to read only.

Also look for compression.config in the root folder.

Hi

I am puzzeled. As I said I am not a developer. Only a poor user with limited skills.

1. Which files exactly should I check? As there are thousands....

2. I cannot find any file called compression.config in the root folder. What is it supposed to do and where

do I find it if it was not in the 4.4.1 install package that I am using?

Why do I have to worry about those things you mention when they are not in the installation guide and they where not needed to install 4.3.4 or 4.3.7???

Thanks for trying though. I really need some help!

Rolf
