> Thanks for that insight.. feels good to be on greener grass :)

You are quite welcome :)

The current distribution includes FTB editor, while dotnetnuke.com already uses FCK editor. We have plans to make FCK editor the default editor in new distributions. If you want to use FCK Editor yourself now, just go to the downloads page, and download the FCK editor provider package. Mind you, it cannot be installed like a module, so please follow the install notes included in the package

Well if the next upgrade will include it I will just wait and get it when I upgrade. It's not THAT critical, but nice to know it will be standard soon.

There will be a new forums module soon (currently in beta), with tons of new features.

hhmmm I just purchased active forums, did I just waste my money? If the core forums turn out better will there be some kind of upgrade path for me to convert?

Tony Valenti is working on that module, it will be called Membership Directory

Excellent. However it is puzzling why/how DNN got along this far w/o such a module by default. Also, on that same note, a core module for private messages between registered users would be quite nice as well!

>
Edit rights on modules are set on a per module or per page level to roles you defined yourself.... Wouldn't that cover your need?

I am not sure I follow. I do NOT want to give members access to edit the module/page just allow them to submit data to the module itself. Perhaps I am over looking some way to do this but I do not see such unless I gave peeps full module access. If you could clarify I'd appreciate it! :)

Thanks for taking the time to reply!

I think that your money was probably well spent on ActiveForums. Another module well worth the money is the PrivateMessages module available at Ventrian.com

Well I have my concerns as if the new core forum module is better then active forums then...

I prob should have stuck with the core forums. We'll see I suppose.

With that said, I wonder why there is no 'quote' button in any editor in DNN. It is very useful IMO.

The editor in DNN is just a rich text editor. How would an editor ever know what to quote. The only place where a quote button is usefull is in a forums module anyway, and guess what.. the forums module already has a quote button (next to the reply button)...

It all depends on the module. If the module allows people to add content based on a role (such as the UDT module), the portal admin can define what roles have what rights in the module settings
