I am running DNN3 (the version right before the last upgrade of 3.2) and successfully uploaded the blog module with no errors. Anytime I try to add it to a web page on my site as the host I get the following error message "A critical error has occurred Multiple controls with the same ID 'ctr' were found. FindControl requires that controls have unique IDs."

Can you please exactly specifiy the DNN version you are using.

You must have installed DNN 3.0.13 or a higher version to use the blog module.

Are you able to install and use other not DNN standard modules

It is the first time I hear a problem like that and thousands of people has installed and use the bog module. therefore it seems to be that you have a problem with your installation.

Could you please have a look to you log viewer for a more detailes error message.

regards

HP

Hello,
I am using DNN version 3.2.0 .  I have installed a few non core modules such as bonosoft multipage, Bring2mind top referrals and a few others. I wasn't able to get the forums module working either so I found the DNNBB for that so far.

Here is some of the log viewer info.DefaultDataProvider: DotNetNuke.Data.SqlDataProvider, DotNetNuke.SqlDataProvider
InnerException: E:\Domains\clevelandguru.com\wwwroot\DesktopModules\Blog\MainView.ascx
Message: DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: E:\Domains\clevelandguru.com\wwwroot\DesktopModules\Blog\MainView.ascx ---> System.IO.FileNotFoundException: E:\Domains\clevelandguru.com\wwwroot\DesktopModules\Blog\MainView.ascx at System.Web.UI.TemplateParser.GetParserCacheItem() at System.Web.UI.TemplateControlParser.CompileAndGetParserCacheItem(String virtualPath, String inputFile, HttpContext context) at System.Web.UI.TemplateControlParser.GetCompiledType(String virtualPath, String inputFile, HttpContext context) at System.Web.UI.UserControlParser.GetCompiledUserControlType(String virtualPath, String inputFile, HttpContext context) at System.Web.UI.TemplateControl.LoadControl(String virtualPath) at DotNetNuke.UI.Skins.Skin.InjectModule(Control objPane, ModuleInfo objModule, PortalSettings PortalSettings) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

Let me know if you need anything else.

Thank you!

As I have suspected, it is not a module specific problem, it sounds like a permission problem.

OK, first check whether the file MainView.ascx, is really available in the sub folder DesktopModules\Blog (I believe it is)

Next check the permission for your asp.net worker process for the whole sub directory blog, alternative you can simply set the permission for the folder structure of your dotnetnuke application again.

HP

BTW: I have installed both the blog and the forum module, without any problems, on a test portal which is running with DNN 3.2.0.

I appreciate your expertise in this area. I will check for the MainView.ascx file as you suggested. It looks like I will need to contact my hosting providor to have them address the permissions structure for me as well. I will update this post as soon as they have made the necessary changes for me.

Cheers!
