Hello, I've got some questions and need answering desperately!

1. What exactly does admin.template work? If I modify it, what will happen? (for I haven't seen anything happen yet)

2. If I want to display my site's "Page views by day" to others, what must I do? I tried to use Advanced Data Grid from efficionconsulting.com but there's only the SiteLog table in the database.

3. Is it possible to create a page that administrators do not have permission to edit? (view only)

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

1: this file is used for creating the admin module upon creating a new portal. Try adjusting it, and create a new portal and look for differences in the admin menu.

2: you could try the steps I provided in this forum post: http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/ForumsDotNetNuke/tabid/795/forumid/107/threadid/108294/scope/posts/Default.aspx (post 8 or so down the page)

3: for as far as I know: no. But I have to admit I never tried :)

For 2) you can also use other modules.

regarding 3: no, not without a core modification. Admins and Superusers currently get auto-assigned to all roles - and as it is done by a short-circuit, it needs more than a single line edit.

Thanks Juna, but that post is not exactly what I'm looking for. Actually, I'm finding a way to pull data from the SiteLog, like BiteTheBullet "Popular pages". I tried to find the author of that module, but it seems that his website is not active anymore. Anyone?
