I've used tons of different forum software in the past as a user and administrator so I'm reasonably familiar with how things should work. While I'm certainly impressed with this free (let's not forget that) forum module I'm having trouble with the email notification part of it. Once I have set up my user to receive notification of new threads posted in a folder I am unable to sign up for notifications for threads in that folder. At least that's what I think is happening because I sure don't see the 'email notification' check box when replying to a thread yet I don't get notified when someone replies.

In thread http://www.tungstentech.com/Forum/tabid/63/forumid/3/threadid/5/scope/posts/Default.aspx for example, posting as 'Sander' I do not see the email notification check box. When people post replies I don't get notified. How do I enable this? I've read the user manual (impressive amount of work) and it says the checkbox won't be there if I am already subscribed. Very odd.

How do I enable notification for a thread I did not start?

I should add that I have received an occasional notification for other treads that I started myself. So email notification itself is working fine but it's not firing when it should or not allowing me to enable it when it should.

I'm running DNN 3 because my host is still not at .NET 2.

Thanks. Does that mean that only forums for DNN 4.x will get this new notification system? I'm not sure when I'll be able to upgrade to .NET 2.0.
