Hi,

I want to create DNN modules outside of my DNN solution. Is this possible? I've tried doing it with some success by referencing the DNN asemblies that I need. However, when I make a call to a DNN specific module it generally doesn't work because the DNN function attempts to create a DNN Setting object for example. As I'm not running this is DNN it usually returns an "Object reference not valid" error.

Anyone developing DNN modules outside of their DNN soultion? I find that developing the modules in my DNN solution to be quite slow.

Thanks for any help!

Marcus.

I've got a wonderful mousetrap to build DNN solutions outside of DNN and run them in DNN or standalone - I've been working on the thing for a few years and am hung up right now with the documentation. I'm probably working on too many projects :)

I've built a number of apps for various intranets with this toolset and I find it incredibly powerful (but then again I wrote it so that's not saying much until I get a couple other people on board chiming the same thing)

If you are interested in working with me on this let me know. I havn't unleashed it yet but want to.

Anyways,

Check out http://www.webstensible.com - click syntax help for a useful app written in webstensible running in DNN

My goal was and is to build a rad tool for dnn that doesn't force you to wallow in asp.net code unless you have to.

Hi,

Thanks for the feedback. I'm using the Blank Solution & WAP project as detailed by Vladan String (See http://vladan.strigo.net/Default.aspx?tabid=76). This approach seems to be working fine so far.....

However, I'd be very keen to help out with your webstensible solution. Let me know how we can progress and how you'd like me to help.

Cheers,

Marcus.

Sure, would love your help.

Step one would be to get you up and running.

Why dont we arrange something outside this venue and see if we cant come up with something valuable to the larger DNN community.

My email is drollins@sdcsol.com. If you want, email me your info and we'll go from there.
