I'm in the process of evaluating various CMS systems for an upcoming project.

The project will have international version with different content served in each region. Each region may be available in a variety of languages.

I need to build in multiple languages for the CMS admin interface as well as the content on the front end website.

When an article is uploaded, i need CMS workflow tools to assist in translating and distributing content across a editorial team in each region.

Obviously these requirements go  far beyond DNN current capabilities and a great deal of customisation will need to be done.

I would really value any DNN community feedback and advice in evaluating DNN.

Is DNN sufficiently robust to cope with  such an architecture  ?  my impression of  having a quick play around and  reading forum posts is that DNN4 is still buggy and idiosyncratic to work with. Is that fair ?

How well does DNN acheive localisation ?

thanks for your comments

Mark,

DotNetNuke is secure, robust and stable - and since version 4.4.0 even fast, though it requires some expertise for a large scale installation. But besides DotNetnuke.com there are a number of very large implementations, that prove the scalability.

When it comes to localization, the framework already provides localization for most of its elements and there are working solutions by 3rd party members (I suggest to have a look at the solution of both core team members ErikVB (www.apollo-software.nl) and Locopon (dnn.tiendaboliviana.com).

You still will need a workflow solution for your CMS, as there are usually very specific needs to implement, I recommend to look for an experienced DNN developer.

I saw a  free module (will have to find it tonight) that was supposed to add "moderation" capabilities to the DNN modules.  I.e., I make changes to the text in a text/html module, but they don't get published until you (the moderator) approve it.  I downloaded it but haven't tested it yet.

That, in combination with the multi-lingual modules already mentioned, might do the trick for you.

And you have to let us know, one way or the other! :)
