Hi all,
At work we have a microsoft access databse called MIS(management information system) which is used by head office staff. The data from this system will be improted into MS SQL server 2005. I have been asked to create a web application where remote users will be able to do the following:
The goal of the project is to:
Provide access to remote users to data on SQL server.
Information should be available via the web.
The 2 main forms that need to be created are:
1. Home information  (read only):
Address, staff working at home, clients placed in home
2. Referrals information (read / write)
Will I be able to do this in DotNetNuke? If yes how will this work? What will I need?
Thanks,
Skips

YOu could write a module to provide your desired reports and data input screens.

Have a look at the module developers guide in the documenation.

There are modules such as ListX from Bi4ce.com that allow you to enter form data into a database and display the database. It has a steep learning curve, but is easier than writing a module. they have an example that uses the Northwinds (MS SQL) database as an example. It does the types of operations that you have mentioned.

It is of course possible to do in DNN, but do you really need DNN or a CMS for a couple of simple forms?  Unless you have a need for all the other functionality (and overhead) DNN brings it might be overkill.  Using the ObjectDataSource in .NET 2.0 with GridView / FormsView / DetailsView controls will allow you to create editable forms on top of your data with very little code in very little time.
