Im a big php man.  Programming servers, configs, mysql.  I want to start to jump into asp now.  I try to master different languages.  Im soo confused i downloaded the install of dotnetnuke i have iis and sql running on my xp machine but i don't know where to start can anyone help

Download the 4.4.1 documentation and read the install pdf.
If you follow the instructions you should be fine.

I also have a full setup guide for DNN 4.4.1 on my blog, that includes all setup items that has helped a lot of people getting DNN up and running.

Flintman,

I would recommend starting out with a SQL Express install first. The site based connection strings make a first install of DNN a lot easier than worrying about db permissions etc since the default config file will work out of the box using it.
