For those of us that use DNN in a hosted environment a version that runs in a medium trust environment would be appreciated.  The app is awesome but otherwise worthless if it is not secure or unable to run on a secure publicly available server.

Is there a work-around for this?  My hosting company (WebSecureStores) refuses to run their servers (rightfully so) in anything less than medium trust...now what?

The Medium Trust issue has been solved and will be part of the 3.01.07 build.

Right now, we're targetting the middle of January for a release. If you are in a mission-critical situation that makes waiting until the official release difficult, contact me via email and I can see about getting you a 'beta' release of 3.01.07 that you can test.

Hmm, i am hosted on WSS and am running the repository on my site at www.fsalliance.net  It seems to work fairly well for me.

On another note, will the Searching be fixed in this release Steve? I am almost at 500 entry's in my repository, and searching is the most complained about feature lacking in the library.

Thanks,

Gary

G-Hunter,
Just to make sure ...
Are you talking about the following search issue? ..

Yeah, thats the same thing i experience as well. The repository titles, summary, and descriptions seem to get indexed by the DNN search engine fine. So when i get results from my search, it will display the various repository items, with links which seem to point to an individual file, but when you click the link, it takes you to the main repository page, IE shows the file listing with the "All" category, "All" attributes, and default sort order view.

Ideally, what should happen, is clicking the link should take you to view that one file. Even better yet, would be to have a special repository search feature as well, that would return all the entrys as a special or limited listing of those entrys.

Here is an example:

Lets say i host 200 DNN Modules for people to download. I want to find all modules that have anything to do with "News" so i enter news into my DNN site search and get 4 results:

File Library - DNN v3 News Module PA - Relevance: 1002
http://www.fsalliance.net/FileLibrary/Downloads/tabid/61/ItemId/311/Default.aspx - 10/16/2005 7:00:59 PM

File Library - DNN v3 News Module Source - Relevance: 1002
http://www.fsalliance.net/FileLibrary/Downloads/tabid/61/ItemId/295/Default.aspx - 10/6/2005 7:45:00 PM

File Library - DNN v4 News Module PA - Relevance: 1002
http://www.fsalliance.net/FileLibrary/Downloads/tabid/61/ItemId/344/Default.aspx - 11/2/2005 6:28:33 PM

File Library - DNN v4 News Module PA - Relevance: 1002
http://www.fsalliance.net/FileLibrary/Downloads/tabid/61/ItemId/345/Default.aspx - 11/2/2005 7:28:00 PM

Now i should be able to click on any one of those links to take me to that particular file. Since this is a site wide search, in actual use, there would probably be other items in there too, like Announcements about my release of those modules or whatever. Another feature of having the links to take you to the exact file with those item id links is in the RSS feed of the repository module. Those are the same links listed there in that format. On my front page, i have an RSS feed of my Repository module that lists all the files uploaded in the last 5 days sorted first by date, then alphabetically. If the links worked, i would enable them in that feed so users could click on the RSS feed titles to take you directly to that specific file.

Going to my other idea of a specific Repository Search, using the same scenario of searching for "News" it would then display the 4 files just as it would if it were a normal repository with only those 4 files. Similar in the way a forum search returns posts.

To summarize this post, you have the repository indexing nicely, and it returns links to a specific file item id. The problem is that the link to reach the specific file doesnt work. And, this is the same way the file links are used and listed listed in the XML for the RSS feed. If you could find a way to accomplish that, then at least would would have searching and working result links.

Thanks and i really appreciate the time and consideration you and the rest of the team have taken to develop this module and encourage feedback from the users.
