I originally posted this in the Documents Module forum, but was told that the downloads bug was a core component that should have been fixed in DNN 3.3.7. It's not working for me though...

My client is unable to download any files from their Documents Module. When they click to download a file, the file downloads but is always either empty or corrupt. For .txt and .doc files, the file is empty. For .pdf files, the file is corrupt and cannot be opened by Adobe Reader. FYI, the links are in the form:

or
http://www.mydomain.com/LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=18T9XSfEjNA%3d&tabid=200&mid=973&forcedownload=true

Notes:
1) It was working in DNN 3.1.1 and after my 3.2.2 upgrade, but not on 3.3.7.
2) It works fine on my development machine running Windows XP Pro, but not on the production server which is running Windows 2003 Server. In both cases, I'm running DNN 3.3.7.
3) I've tried recursively synchronizing the database in File Manager, which didn't help.
4) I've tried uploading new files through the documents module since upgrading and I can't download them.

Please, anyone, if you could help me I would truly appreciate it.

I found a fix... turns out the problem was caused by running GZIP compression on my Windows 2003 server.

cscript C:\Inetpub\AdminScripts\adsutil.vbs set w3svc/site#/root/DoStaticCompression False
cscript C:\Inetpub\AdminScripts\adsutil.vbs set w3svc/site#/root/DoDynamicCompression False
(replace site# with the IIS site number)
