Hello,

I'm curious if there are any add-ons or ways to configure a text/html module that would provide an icon in the lower right corner that could export the content of the module to a PDF file that can be saved to the user's computer.  The functionality would be the same as the "Print" icon currently in the lower right corner.

I will be using this to create PDF files from articles and reports that users would author using a text/HTML module.

Thanks!

The ASPPDF server control  from Persits can now publish a PDF document from an HTML page so you might be able to do something with that. Did you work out any other way of achieving this?

Thanks Rae.  That isn't quite what I was thinking of, however that looks like an excellent program that I could find other uses for within my project.

I'm not entirely sure what I'm looking for can be done without the user having Adobe installed to create the PDF.  I'm looking for a solution that would allow the user to save a text article from an HTML module to a PDF format onto their computer that would function in the same manner as the "Print" function and icon in the lower right corner.  What I'm trying to do is have a simplified, integrated way to replace having to post a link to download a PDF that would have to be created and uploaded to the file manager.  In this way, ideally a user could author updates to manuals posted online, and have the updated manual immediately available rather than having to copy and paste to create the PDF, then upload the changes to a file for future downloads.

Chris,

The Persits product will do what you want but not without a 'little' programming. What you need to do is change the link on the 'print' icon to call a separate script, say 'import_from_html.asp' along with a parameter or reference to the text you want to print. So the link might be import_from_html.asp?id=89. The import_from_html.asp script in turn calls a script which just produces an HTML version of the text and then produces an 'Open or Save' dialog. I have a couple of Classic ASP examples which might help - just ask.

You could try http://www.pdf4net.com/ its dot net based so should be easily added to DNN although my programming skills aren't up to being able to say how you might go about that exactly
