The recurring topic is will DotNetNuke remain free or not.

While..  I have always said no only to hear shouts of yes.

I think we have officially crossed the line of free vs not free.

I'd rather pay for it then received advertising through default templates and now the 'Solutions Explorer'.

The term Eco in DotNetNuke is starting to take shape...   the shape of a not free product.

So you just found out that there is a commercial market for DotNetNuke Modules?

In the same way somebody found out the push technique of advertising.

Free does not always involve money.  In this case, I'd rather pay money then alter what is supposed to be a framework and make it instead an 'ecowhatever'.

All I ask..   make downloads available so I can do without it...  clean templates ( because I don't see one labeled DNN Ads ) and how to turn off the Solutions Explorer and content.

Interesting this thread put me into moderated status again.   Educated feedback.

The Solutions Explorer is 100% customizable by a host... including for the purposes of showcasing only their own feeds.  In the meantime, others consider this a convenient feature.

Conspiracy theories abound.
