My production server (Server 2003/IIS6) has two DNN 4.4.0 sites and three DNN 3.3.7 sites installed. All are running fine with Friendly URLs enabled.

After adding a NEW site to IIS, the only page that works is the home page. All other pages return a 404 error. If I disable Friendly URLs, I can successfully browse the whole site.

I've tried all sorts of troubleshooting:

  • Added new 3.3.7 site.
  • Added new 4.4.0 site.
  • Added Read permissions for the ASP Machine account and the IIS Guest account
  • Removed ASP.NET 1.1
  • Run all sites on ASP.NET 2.0 (DNN 3.3.7 sites set to Full Trust)
  • Removed and reinstalled ASP.NET 2.0
  • Rebooted the server
  • Added new Application Pools
  • Rerun the Server 2003 Security Configuration Wizard

Nothing helps. All the OLD sites are 100% functional. All the NEW sites are functional ONLY with Friendly URLs disabled.

All that's left to do is reinstall IIS6, and if that fails then reinstall Server 2003. Before I do that, does anyone know what the heck might be going on?

Today I repaired ASP.NET 1.1 and 2.0. No change.

Anyone?

Installed Windows Server 2003 SP2. No change. Aaaaggghhhh!!!

Removed ASP.NET 1.1/2.0 and IIS. Reinstalled. Sites are working now. What a headache!!
