Hi All,

When i take a look at my logs in the logviewer i notice that several times per hour my application is being shut down and Started.

I'm able to reach my sites but i'm just wondering what might cause this kind of behaviour. Is it some kind of setting in DNN or could this be a setting on the side of provider?

Please advise

Marc

If your site doesn't have a large amount of activity it is most likely due to the cycling of the ASP.NET worker process, which is typically completed after 20 minutes of inactivity.

If you are really concerned about the shutdowns and want to find more information on WHY it is shutting down, have a look at my blog post about logging ASP.NET application restarts. http://mitchelsellers.com/Blogs/tabid/54/EntryID/40/Default.aspx

Mitchel,

Thanks for the info. I will sure take a look at your Blog.

I also checked the interval of restarting. This is sometimes ocurring within a timeframe of 5 minutes (most of the time)  I even have seen that it is shutting down the application within the same minute it has been started.

Is this timeframe a very commen one?

I also have posted a ticket to my provider to find out what their opinion is in this matter.

Thanks,

Marc

Marc,

That does seem to be a little more frequent than expected....hopefully your provider can shed some light on the issue.

Mitchel,

My provider told me that the application pool recylce settings were set to short. They told me they increased it up to 12 hours (seems pretty long to me). So i guess time will tell!!

Thanks for your time.

Marc
