I run a GoDaddy dedicated Windows Server 2003 box. (Great deal with total control, unlimited virtual websites, and unbelievable performance at only $125/mo.) Anyway, I would like to install a second DotNetNuke portal under a different virtual website with its own domain name. What's the best way to do that? I know I could just do a separate install that points to a separate database. But it seems like DNN supports some sort of multiple portal set-up where the "host" account has control of all the portals and things are kind of consolidated. Is there any advantage to that approach, or will it work just fine if I do completely separate installs? I like the idea of completely separate installs for portability's sake, in case I have to move one portal to another server but keep the other. But I want to make sure there are no performance problems caused by running multiple portals if I don't have them under one "host" installation. (e.g. duplicate processes that slow down the machine, etc) Please advise, and thank you in advance for any assistance.
