I found that setting up the Reports module was pretty easy, but now that have the data that I need showing, how do I format it?

I like the Grid Visualizer, as the sorting and paging is great, but I have a column that I would like formatted as currency, and a couple of columns as dates. I think what I want is to be able to change the DataFormatString, but I don't know how to find that setting or where to change it. Can anyone help?

Unfortunately that is not possible in the current version, you could create a new Visualizer (copy the Grid folder inside DesktopModules/Reports/Visualizers) and tweak the DataFormatString yourself (you'd have to poke around a bit, there isn't much documentation on how Visualizers work, but that will be changing soon). I've also logged this as an enhancement to be included in a future version of the module (4.5, the next version is already finished and in the release process, but it should make the version after that). You can SQL to get the desired effect:

For Currency  - '$' + CONVERT(varchar, CONVERT(money, fieldname), 1)
For Date - convert(varchar(10),fieldname,111)
