I have just started adding new pages using VS2005.   Whenever I create a new page using VS then change its base class from Page to PageBase it no longer displays.  I get:

A critical error has occurred.
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Is there something else I must do?  Can I use PageBase as the base class?  This seems so basic I don't knpw where to go from here.  The rest of my DNN site is working fine.

Hi Rich,

You're going the wrong direction by developing new aspx pages for your DNN installation. DNN is designed as a single entry-point application, and this entry is through the Default.aspx file.

To add new pages to your website, you're going to want to use the "Add New Page" option on the control panel of your website (after logging in as host/admin). To add new content to these pages, select a DNN module and add it to the page.

If, as I suspect, you're wanting to create new functionality for your website that doesn't already exist in a module, you're going to want to create a new module. This essentially involves creating a new ascx file and registering it with DNN. There is documentation for this, so that's where you'll want to start.

Hope this helps!
