How do you change the main font used in all of the containers? I have tried editing the portal.css, default.css, skin.css, container.css and associated ascx files. The only change that I can make is the font color, not size or type of font. I have seen several workarounds on the forums, but the default font type, color and size has to be assigned somewhere.

What is the most expedient method to accomplish this?

You cannot change the font in the container - you can change every other element but not the font type using the css class.

What you might like to try is put the container class in in the skin.css file and see how that goes.

In the container.css file you can set any of the font properties ..

for example..

.ContentPane .normal {
    font-family: "Courier New", Verdana, Arial, Helvetica;
    font-size:  11px;
    font-weight: normal;
    color: red;
}

I am interested in the same thing.  Were you ever able to get something to work?  I am mainly interested in changing the font color for the title.

Let me know...

Like Nina and Steve said
<td class="CntrCont" runat="server" id="ContentPane"></td>
Or if you want to change the normal style in the contentpane set in your .css style:
#Contentpane .normal{and your style goes here}
