I've just installed DNN and started setting up my site, but I've noticed a couple of problems.  If the site is idle for a while, then a new request will usually result in a failure (random message depending on page).  If I check my server there is a SQLExpress entry indicating that it is waking up after a period of inactivity.  Right after that entry there is an error message indicating a timeout exception happened with DNN because of SQL.  Is anyone else having this issue?  Is there any way for me to to tune this to avoid this issue?

I was also looking through the protocol logs and noticed lots of 404 for favicon.ico.  I can't find it anywhere in my install directory.  Did I accidently delete it?  How do I resolve this?

Thanks,

James

I talked to a friend on the SQL team and it turns out the default connection timeout is 15 seconds and may not be enough time for SQLExpress to spin up a new user instance.  I've added "Connection Timeout=30;" to my connection string.  Crossing my fingers hoping this works.

BTW - for the favicon.ico issue, I did a web search and found several web tools that create one.  I created one for my site, dropped it in my root folder and that problem went away.

yes we are having the same time out issue. We are building and have not officially launched yet still in testing phase and are buying and testing modules to see what is going to happen.

Read some interesting stuff from a guy in the forum that the site cache's things. If you are loading alot of pictures or large files. It will take time for the cache to clean itself out. I think at some point something will have to be written to tell the difference between just a file upload and traffic to the site. If I am understanding the architecture of what is going on. I'm no pro but this is the only common sense answer i have found in the forum with this issue. I am sure it will only be time or the next update before it is taken care of but it is not to big of a issue for us we don't get a ton of traffic to or site.

Peace and if I am just tutting BS Someone please correct me.

Thanks
