OK, I posted somewhere about this problem, but I have figured out what is causing it.

1. I uploaded the XDFlower free skin from http://www.xd.com.au/. I'm changing a bunch of things on it, including the logo at the top, etc., but I like the menu, the gray background and the containers.

2. When I upload it and use it, it changes the default input editor for both content pages, discussions, blogs, etc. The Styles pulldown goes across the entire width of the input screen so I can't see the paragraph, font, and size pulldowns. (This is obviously an error.)

3. It automatically puts a dark gray backdrop to the text editor. (I hate this!) (This might not be an error but a style choice that I would like to get rid of.)

3. If I change the skin back to the default skin, then the edit input box is just fine.

Anyone have any idea what could cause this?

Best,

Katherine

You could post in the forum for xd.com.au. However, This is a known change in ftb since 4.3.x where ftb picks up the background from the body{... in skin.css.

You have two approach. one is to have a admin.css that has body{background colour white and places the whole of the content for admin.ascx inside a table that has the required background colour.

Or you can create a admin container that overrides the body{ css in the form of a wrapped div that has an id that overrides the body css to white. hence you get old style background for your ftb when you are in admin mode.

What if I download FCKeditor? Will that fix it without fooling around with the admin css? (It looks like it is a better editor anyhow...)

Best,

Katherine

(and thanks for the response!)

Yes - **** does behave differently.

However, I think that FTB is change by design. The intention must have been to show the background and the text colour as default which is .normal and what ever the background is.

But I guess, we are used to the standard white background and black type.

Edit the skin.css file and change
body{

}

to:
#body{

}
Now the editor should ignore the skins background
