I don't think you are being dense Rob.  You are just trying to argue your point.  The bottom line is, not everyone feels the same way.  Web design is a very subjective topic that will vary greatly depending on your perspective.  You are looking at it as a consumer who hates advertising.  Others may look at it as a way to get or deliver information that may have been missed otherwise.

A lot of people would also say that the graphics we are using for advertising in our signature lines should not be allowed, but then that would probably mean that less people would be inclined to answer as many posts as they do.

Yes, the approach taken does change the end result. Otherwise we would only need one skin for layout, and we would all be perfectly happy using only the text/html module for updating content.

Well... I believe you were arguing that it was something "different" than what I was describing or understanding.  So I was trying to understand what was different about it - and not assuming that I knew all there was to know about it.

And I don't hate advertising - but I do not appreciate pop-ups, so perhaps thats' where the difference lies?  And since there have been lots of development in pop-up blockers, I've assumed (perhaps incorrectly?) that a lot of people use them.  If I'm in the minority here, my apologies for wasting bandwidth...

OK, I cannot resist jumping in on this ;-).

First off, I LOVE the modules developed by OnyakTech, I uses many of them daily and cannot live without them.  With that said, I consider OnyakTech to be a honorable development company that creates quality software for the DNN market and it only filling a need in the Website Community (even if it is a slightly annoying need ;-).

I am not a big fan of "Pop-ups", but I think they have their place (a good example was the one involving a lerts).  My issue with Pop-ups is if they keep popping as you are trying to close them (really annoying/nasty) and when they pop on every page refresh (if this module allows you to optionally disable that, that would be Great).  Other than the two issues above, I just close them and ignore it.

Just my take...

Ahhh yes!  A smart pop-up that does not re-open the next time the viewer goes to the same page, (within the same session), on a refresh...  Is there such a thing?  It would have to use a cookie to keep track of this, wouldn't it?

That's a really good idea.  So, I've added into the module.  You can see it in action now at www.OnyakTech.com on the home page.  The ad will show just one time per visitor.  It's stored by using sessions.

This new addition is a great idea when you only have one ad to display and don't want to irritate the visitor or when displaying critical information that is only necessary to display once per visitor.

This new option is only available in the full release (v1.0.5).  It's not available in the free version.  The free version is free due to the fact that it displays an ad for OnyakTech at the bottom of the module.
