Just wondering how I would go about the following..

I want a child portal for each country as I have a complex pricing model (basically the same security role has a different price in each country and I have about 20 roles.). So the actual URL would be www.mydomain.com/child

However, I don't want the URL to be different.

So when people type www.mydomain.com they are automatically directed to the correct portal based on browser settings but the URL is still www.mydomain.com.

Can this be done ?

I have not done so myself, but I'm willing to bet you could get your domain name to "mask" other domain names similar to what free domain name redirection companies like cjb.net offer....but in that case, you would never see anything but "http://yoursite.com/" while navigating through your site....which is probably not desirable...

But...you may want to look in to using the same portal but making the content dynamic based on the user's country (you could default to the browser setting, but allow them to choose a country as well) But then i don't know if you are planning on doing development on your own, or if you have the goal of only using existing modules....I'm thinking you could display dynamic content pretty easily, but I don't know about how you would hook in to whatever e-commerce solution you are using, if any.

thanks for your reply.

I am going to have to do development as I have some stuff that is business specific. My problem is that my "products" are subscriptions.... not sure how I can do that dynamically. Haven't seen any localisation type information for security roles....

If the prices of your subscriptions are based solely on the location of the user, you could create logic that would detect the location from their browser and display pricing information based on that (alternatively giving the user the option to choose their location)

In this scenario you may only require a lookup table that ties a given location to a price.

But unfortunately things don't ever seem to be that straight forward -- if I had to guess there are some other requirements that I don't know about that would make this a little more complicated than that...

Hi Ian thanks for your reply.

That would definitely work. In fact that was my original idea, to have a prices table.

I just have no idea how I would tie that into the DNN framework and Paypal. Any Ideas ?

Thanks
