Here is the scenario:

I create a new page in DNN v4.4.1. Under Page settings > Basic Setttings > Page Details > Page Name I indicate the chosen name for the page. Suppose the chosen name is comprised of two words (e.g. 'Your Purchases', 'Price List', 'Store Locations', etc). The URL that DNN creates for the page will have the two words of the page name but without any space between  them (e.g. the URL will be something like www.mydomain.com/YourPurchases/tabid/78/default.aspx). However what if I want to have a hyphen ('-') between the two words in the URL. Can this be done? I tried to do it by putting a hypen between the words in the 'Page name' field under 'Page settings' > 'Basic Settings' > 'Page Details' but it did not work (the URL does not change - still no space and no hyphen between the words 'Your' and 'Purchases' in the example URL above).

Is this by design or is it a bug or is there another way I should be trying to do this? Any ideas? A hyphen surely can't be too difficult a thing to have in a DNN URL? Or is it?!?

Thanks,

eoghano

I feel your pain, but that's by design. You can either get a 3rd party URL rewriter or try Hacking Hyphens into DNN URLs.

You may want to try the href exchanger (url rewriter) module from inventua.com, it allows the hypens you want.  You need to do this in your web.config:

<hrefExchanger extension=".aspx" replace-spaces-with="-"
