Dear Khun Greenflash,
Thank you for your kind help.
You are right, I use the automatic installation from Godaddy Deluxe plan which do not allow to install at root diretory. I have to create the html file in the root to redirect user to the sub directory. As I am not good in SQL Database and database script, installation, backup and restore  required experice ADO.NET knowledge.
I can use FTP to every directory. And Godaddy provides Directory management as below but I don't know how to use it  too.

"Using the Hosting Manager, you can modify the ASP.Net runtime version. You can also create, edit, and customize the user permissions for directories and subdirectories on your Web site."

I do appreciate your help, If you found any simple solution to domain name for child portal, please kindly let me know (jkplan@yahoo.com)

Best regards,

Jeeradate K.

Ismet,

I'm also having a problem installing a child portal or a parent portal.

I have godaddy.com virtual dedicated server. I have done a manual install in the root directory and now have my site working there.

I've tried to create a child portal in DNN but get "Error Creating Portal".

-- I have set up a directory /gel with permissions: read, web; then read, web, write; then read, web, write, browse (I think I tried all combinations)... which permissions should I use?
-- I have tried to do this with out setting up a directory and got same error

In the DNN Portal set up I used the following:

Portal Type - Child
Portal Alias -- masterytv.com/gel
Home Directory -- I left it blank
Template -- MasteryTV (I exported the template of the main site)
Everything else is standard...

Is it OK to leave the home directory as-is or do I need to put something there? What? Any ideas what may be causing the error?

TIA -- Tom

So far I don't use child portal in Godaddy for my web site as I think it not stable as the main installation. I think Godaddy should solve the child portal which looking  for App_Code directory in it's directory, actually the App_Code is in the directory which install DNN.  You can see such  error by browse http://www.beingpro.com/beingpro/home/test2   Test2 is the child portal.

Update on my tutorial, since DotNetNuke 4.5.0 version release delayed due to some issues, i will try to post my tutorial in this week or next week.

Once again to make it work for multiple domains,  we need to install dnn to root.
I launched mynetnuke.com to post my english tutorials.

For virtual dedicated server issue:
It must be a permission problem with your configuration. I havent used virtual dedicated server of godaddy, but i believe the way that vds operates, restrictive like default options of godaddy. I need to check the issue with a remote connection in order to help you.

Personally recommend Hostgator for hosting single or multiple DotNetNuke Websites.

I am very glad to see your response.  I am waiting for your English version, I don't have a good computer background to solve my case. Thank you for you kind to look in my case.
I didn't use the virtual dedicate server, my hosting account with Godaddy is just share hosting (Deluxe Plan).  I am very happy to let you remote to my computer  or provide you the password then you can operate my Godaddy account directely.
      My email address is jkplan@yahoo.com.
Best regards,
