Hi, I have noticed that there are many posts on the net for this, but no solutions. I am trying to install 4.4.1 on Windows Server 2003 with SQL 2005 Standard Edition, and ASP.net 2.0 and when I run the install I get:

Parser Error

Description: An error occurred during the parsing of a resource required to service this request. Please review the following specific parse error details and modify your source file appropriately.

Parser Error Message: Could not load type 'DotNetNuke.Common.Global'.

Source Error:

Line 1: <%@ Application Inherits="DotNetNuke.Common.Global" Language="VB" %>

Source File: /dnn/global.asax    Line: 1

Does anyone have a solution? Thanks!!!

please check your web site configuration in IIS and make sure, you enabled ASP.Net 2.0 for it.

Hi, asp.net 2.0 is enabled.
A co-worker has suggested that somehow VB is not installed correctly. When we look at the 'DotNetNuke.Common.Global' file in Visual Studios, it appears as plain text, as opposed to being color coded, like VS does not know it is VB. I am working that angle right now. Open for more suggestions!

I have the same error.

I have determined so far that my UNZIP ALL FILES is not succeeding. The global.asax.vb file in the app_code folder disappears (that is, it is deleted, rather than being overwritten from the downloaded zip files). I am unable to copy files from the zip folder to the app_code folder. I have not done a file by file check to determine what files are being installed and what file have not.

I reinstalled Visual Basic Express 2005 Express Edition but that did not help in any way.

Hi, I got mine working.

First, I tried using the "Source" install instead of the regular install, thinking maybe something was missing. That changed the error message I was getting to a basic "could not connect to SQL DB..." error.

Then, it was explained to me that if you redo the install you should start with everything new. Apparently there is some stuff created that relates the db to the install in the web.config, and if you create a new db, even with the same name, etc. it will not look the same to the application.

So, I started from scratch - Source install, new DB, new web.config, and BAM! It worked. Hope this helps!
