Hello, it seems that strange things happen with my toys :-) I'm doing some tests for compiling DNN (that takes ages, and the Forum module doesn't want to be compile within DNN 4.4.1 ;) and some other packaging. So I have made a module that worked fine within the DNN Project. (AppCode + DesktopModule). I move the appcode into a separate project  so I could create a separate DLL for my controllers and this where  my troubles start.

The Dataprovider doesn't seems to respond as expected for some  unknown reason.

objProvider = (

This works if I add a reference from within Visual Studio to the VS class project. If I delete this reference from Visual Studio and install the module from a package. This doesn't work anymore, even if I add the Assembly Name "CMWA.HtmlHelp" as below.   As far as I know the reference in VS is not found in the Web.Config and it's only to get a fresh copy of the latest version when I debug the project. So I can not get why it works only when the reference is set. Any idea ? and what should be the exact parameters of those things ?

objProvider = (DataProvider)Reflection.CreateObject("data", "CMWA.HtmlHelp.Controller", "CMWA.HtmlHelp")

"data" : no Idea what it is :-)

"CMWA.HtmlHelpController" : Is this the namespace where the SqlDataProvider is located ?

"" or "CMWA.HtmlHelp" : is this the Assembly Name, Not full qualified ?, Assembly file  name ?

DataProvider)Reflection.CreateObject("data", "CMWA.HtmlHelp.Controller", "");

I created a new module earlier this week and here's what it looks like.

objProvider = (

DataProvider)(DotNetNuke.Framework.Reflection.CreateObject("data", "Engage.Dnn.F3", ""
));

Where Engage.Dnn.F3 is the Namespace, the assembly name is EngageF3, but you'll notice that's not referenced in the code above using the WAP model.

Thank you,

I solved the problem partially, my DNN package doesn't copy the dll in the bin directory but in bin/modules. Just moving the files make that thing works again.

I highly recommend you to download the documentation package are carefully read the Data Access document. It will make you understanding of DNN data access techniques better and detail all steps involved.
