I'm trying to get the PortalId of a child portal in a custom control.  However, if I navigate to a child portal via a portal alias url (http://www.ParentPortal.com/Default.aspx?alias=www.ParentPortal.com/childportal) the context seems to remain that of the parent portal. This url is generated when navigating to the child portal from the Host/Portals page.

Both of the objects below return 0 for PortalId

Dim objPortalSettings As PortalSettings = PortalController.GetCurrentPortalSettings
and
Dim objPortalSettings = CType(HttpContext.Current.Items("PortalSettings"), PortalSettings)

Any ideas?

I just tried this on dnn450 and it works as expected. Include this line in whaterver ascx file you have on your dnn site:

It correctly displays the portalid of the child portal. What version are you using?

<%=CType(HttpContext.Current.Items("PortalSettings"), PortalSettings).Portalid %>
