In Google News RSS the only way to display more than 10 news items is to manually manipulate your RSS url.  In your example you listed:
http://news.google.ca/news?hl=en&ned=ca&q=hockey&ie=UTF-8&output=rss

Say you wanted to display 15 Items.

The new URL would be:
http://news.google.ca/news?hl=en&ned=ca&q=hockey&ie=UTF-8&num=15&output=rss
Just add "&num=15" (without using the "quotes") to the URL after UTF-8

The number 15 tells google to display 15 items.  You can change the number to whatever you want.

The following URL: www.dailyhd.net is an example of the News Feeds (RSS) module using google news to display more than 10 news items.
