This is an interesting post.....

Looking at the partial rendering method as stated in the blog posted earlier:
http://rafiq.ws/archive/2007/04/08/ajax-in-dotnetnuke.aspx

Is there, or will there be a list somewhere of core modules that support this setting?

Any advise please?

Cheers!

It can be done in the host settings via enable partial updates or something like that option (checkbox).

That option was in the RC's of DNN 4.5 but we took it out   Perhaps we can bring it back after more testing

Aha... good to know... didn't have time yet to play with the released version

Btw... do you know which modules made problems with partial rendering?

Hi,

I tried to apply partial rendering in some modules (catalook...) with the checkbox in module settings. The big problem is that sometime you don't want to refresh all users controls in a page but only one of them. Also, some javascript applied to body tags (body onload="function()) are not applied a second time but it's necessary for some html control (tabs control...).

I have tried to edit the ascx control and add myself (not with checkbox in module settings) updatepanel control, but ajax don't work. And I can't add <asp:ScriptManager ID="ScriptManager1" runat="server"> else I have an error message that says "scriptmanage can't add a second time"

Do you have ideas to activate ajax manually in a ascx control with updatepanel controls and without the checkbox in module settings?

Great regards.

Roland

I think it was login. I wasn't directly involved so I may be wrong. I was just informed that there was a problem and I was given time to change my tutorial. At the same time the change was made, the Partial Rendering flag was added to the individual module settings. Now I can take any module (except the admin modules) and make it run in an Update Panel

just an interesting post to apply a javascript function after a partial rendering and not to break a javascript function.
