Unless someone came up with some way to import your data, I'd say your chances are dim... i don't know WWF, but apart from the different database type (which could be overcome), also the way the data is stored will be different from the DNN forums module. ....

cheers,

erik

I have never heard of this WWF. (Isn't that wrestling?)

Anyways, you can easily overcome the access to SQL server and then write an import sql script if you know the db system.  Other than that, I don't think you are going to find anyone to do this for you.

Importing data into the forum module is no easy task.  The major issue is the users.  Although I cannot cater to anyones specific situation, I can give an overview of how I would do it for any import.  There is only a process and would require much more investigation because there are possible errors you would have to handle.  No matter what this requires lots of testing and there is no support offered for importing data from other forums.

  1. I would make sure all users are part of DNN already (import into DNN Users table).  There is no getting around this, the users must be put into DotNetNuke first!
  2. Get all your tables from the previous db for your forum into the database you site is using.  I would use something AA_ so they are listed first and very distinctive.
  3. For each user you imported into dnn, I would create a forum user account for them either at the time of importing to dnn (right after they have a userid), or at this point using a sql script.  There is a Forum_UserAdd sproc you can start with.  You could import all users if they don't exist using a script and this would cover every user just in case.
  4. Determine your former db's Forums, Posts, Group tables.  Important to note if there is a threads table, we simply use the first post as a thread so in our db items the threads table is just a link to a post with a parentpostid of 0.
  5. Import Groups
  6. Import Forums
  7. Import Posts/Threads (Insert post, return identity and add thread if parentpostid = 0)

Any other data I cannot account for in this overview, but is probably possible to import as well.
