Greetings all,

I have very recently returned to the DNN Development arena, and OMG everythings so much different since I last used it.  (3.3)  I have a few questions concerning the migration process where the 3D's come into play.

  • Design - The design process of my current DNN site is taking place on a personal machine/localhost settings. Once I have managed to get through the design phase of this new site, I will be moving to the development stage.  When I reach this stage, can the current codebase that I have accumulated thoroughout the design process be migrated to the dev-server?
  • Development - Once I have moved the codebase to the development server, whether it be the accumulated codebase, or the reinvention of the design code it will be housed there for an undermined amount of time, (until I am satisfied that it is ready for release) and testing, focus grouping, etc... will take place in a small-scale heavy-hitting environment, made up mainly of computer-geeks, .NETer's, and the likes until it is assured that the development process is complete. and everyone has had their say about the look and feel of it all.  Once that phase is finished, the codebase will be way too far from the original to be reworked, so my next question is: Can the development codebase be pushed to the live server unchanges (or with little alterations to the config scripts and have it function as well or better than it did during testing?
  • Deployment - Once the code has been deployed, can I continue adding to, upgrading, developing the dev-code and pushing the changes to the live server without having to rework it everytime?
  • Is there a group, users group, section, white paper collection... that covers this pattern and if so, where do I have to go to gather the most support possible for this to be a positive experience?

Thanks in advance for all your assistance...
