I am trying to install DNN on Windows Server 20003 R2 with SQL 2005 full version. I get two different errors depending on where I browse for the install. If I go to http://localhost/dnn/ I get a DNN page that says "ERROR: Could not connect to database specified in connectionString for SqlDataProvider"

If I browse directly to http://localhost/dnn/Install/install.aspx I get a

Server Error in '/dnn' Application.

Login failed for user 'ksoszka'. The user is not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection.

Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

Exception Details: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Login failed for user 'ksoszka'. The user is not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ksoszka is the user I set up in SQL, and specified in the web.config file with a password, for connectionString and appSettings for SQL 2005.

This is driving me nuts, and I need to get this working for my employer asap.

I'll be happy to answer any questions about the rest of my Install, I have documented it step by step.

Thanks!

Add the Network Service account  as a DBO to your SQL database in SQL 2005.

Hi, I have done that, same result. I am using Windows Authentication, is this correct? It seems odd to me that I am using a SQL login to access the database in the web.config file when I set up SQL with Windows Auth only. I had to associate the NETWORK SERVICE account with a SQL user, so I could add the permissions. Is this right?

If you want to use a specific SQL User Account remove the Trusted Connection portion of the connection string.

Thanks, where is that in the web.config? I don't see it.
